Drew - recap of sophomore year

 Drew had a great sophomore year.  He took a hard load of classes and did quite well.  He also started the year with playing two school sports at one time.  He played JV soccer and ran varsity cross country.  Soccer was his main sport and he ran xc meet when they didn't conflict with soccer.  He didn't get to participate in many xc practices but he ran when he could.  

Drew ended the season with the decision to not play school soccer anymore.  He absolutely loved x-county and did quite well even without running very often.  So he decided to continue with club soccer, but no more school soccer in the future.  

Drew loved participating in all the team dinners for both soccer and cross country.  He stayed busy between the two sports and school in the fall.  

Drew continued his work at Twisters through September and then quit his job.  Drew got his braces off in September.

Drew and Elsie started dating again for a few months and went to homecoming together, but then went their separate ways.

Drew turned 16 and was legal to drive!  

Drew did some running in the winter to prepare for track and played club soccer.  It wasn't too far into the club soccer season that Drew decided he was going to finish the season and then he was hanging up his soccer cleats.  It was sad to think soccer was over for him, but he was happy with his decision and it is fun seeing him excited about focusing on running.  

Track season was a lot of fun.  Drew had some great PR's in the mile and 800.  He even ran the 2 mile one meet (after running the mile).  We spent a lot of Friday nights at track meets.  

We did enjoy watching Drew play his spring soccer season and soaked up all the moments we could.  We were all a little sad watching Drew play his last game and it really hit hard when Drew came off the field in tears.  It was time to move on, but is hard closing a chapter on your life . 

The school year ended and Drew had a successful school year in school.  He worked hard and played hard too.  We just love watching our boy grow up!

Wyatt - 3rd Grade

Wyatt's 3rd grade year flew by.  He had a great school year.  He had Mrs. Grant for a teacher and had his best buddy, Harrison in his class.  Mrs. Grant had been a para in Wyatt's kindergarten classroom so she knew him well and he absolutely loved her and was super excited to be in her class.   Mrs. Grant got married in October and she invited the class to the wedding.  Wyatt went to the wedding with Harrison and his mom since I was out of town for a soccer tournament.  Wyatt insisted he needed to wear a suit to the wedding so we got him one and he looked adorable!

Wyatt played fall baseball and it was the first chance of kid pitch.  He took some pitching lessons and got to pitch a few times.  Wyatt decided mid fall season he was ready to hang up his baseball cleats.  He didn't enjoy the game anymore.  So after lots of discussion he has moved on from baseball and hasn't been too sad about it.  He's asked a couple times to play again, but then goes and plays wiffle ball with the neighbors and that seems to be enough baseball for him.  

Wyatt tried out for premier soccer and made a Sporting Blue Valley team.  He enjoyed playing for Coach Sam and liked his teammates.  You didn't have any school buddies on your team since you are older than all your soccer buddies.  So you were disappointed at first but easily made some new friends.  He did not care for futsal and at times wanted to quit soccer.  Once the outdoor spring season started Wyatt started to improve quite a bit and really started to enjoy soccer.  He started the soccer year playing defense and then started playing midfield and scored some goals.  

Wyatt also played flag football in the fall, but never made it to practice because it conflicted with soccer practice, but he enjoyed the games and still loves football.  Wyatt asked for a real football helmet for his birthday to go along with the real pads he got from cousin, Mitch,  So he's hoping one day he'll get to play tackle football.

Wyatt played basketball in the winter and the spring.  Basketball is one of his top favorite sports. The rules got less strict in the spring and there was lots of stealing going on.  It is fun watching Wyatt and his team.  

Wyatt went on some fun field trips this year.  He went down to the plaza in October for a scavenger hunt and then the zoo in May.  I got to go with you too and it was a lot of fun seeing you in action with all of your buddies.  

You were sick a few times this year, you had strep for the first time ever.  You always love a good sick day, you love lounging on the couch all day with Winston.

You were in tears at the end of the school year when you heard Mrs. Grant was moving schools.  You sobbed for days.  You are a kid that just connects so deeply with others.  The best part is Mrs. Grant is staying in contact with you and all your buddies through email.

Overall it was a great year and it was busy!  We just love watching you grow up and these years just seem to go by so very fast!
