Such a funny boy!

Drew has been saying some funny things lately. I've been trying to write them down as he says them so I don't forget them. Here are a few of the recent sayings


We were in the car the other day on the way to the babysitters and a song came on the radio and Drew says, "This song is perfect."


We drove through the Starbucks drive thru the other morning to get a drink for Drew's babysitter and when they handed me the drinks Drew says, "Stacey likes those, she says mmmmm." It is so funny what he remembers.


Drew and I were walking through the store the other day and he shouts, "Mom you have a big tummy." I'm sure quite a few people heard him (but really who looks at me and doesn't agree?)!


Yesterday Drew and Daddy were having their weekly "Daddy & Drew day" and Drew was busy doing his business in his diaper when he was done he asked for his "froggy chair." Mike wasn't sure what he was talking about at first so Drew showed him, he wanted his froggy potty chair. He's never asked for it before, so that is one step closer! Of course he sat on it for maybe 5 seconds and was done with it. I had called from work to talk to my boys and I asked Drew if he liked using his froggy chair, he said "sometimes."


Drew is very into little lego boys these days. He was playing around with one of his lego boys and told us that "Lego boy broke his arm, he go to doctor." It was funny because he's never made that connection about the doctor before.


I told him to drink his milk while we were in the car the other morning and he then tells me, "I'm busy." Where did that come from?


Drew was playing with Woody and coloring the other day and he says "Oh boy he got my crayons," "(talking about Woody)

One night Drew said to me, "What's that mom?" I wasn't sure what he was talking about, so I told him I wasn't sure what he was talking about. So then he says, "Did you hear my tushy?"Iguess he had some gas.

Later on that night he told "Buzz has a tushy."

Drew told us that "I got baby sister in my belly."


Last night we went to pick up the double stroller we picked out and I was telling Drew he'll get to sit next to his baby sister in the stroller and he said "I poke her." So we'll have to see how all that plays out once she gets here.

When Drew got up the other morning I went in there to get him and he was sitting on his bed and thinking about getting down and starting his day. He said, "You not change my diaper." Drew doesn't like to take the time to change his diaper most of the time. He just has better things to do that worry about a soaked diaper.

I'm not the only one gaining weight...

I have a great excuse as to why I'm gaining weight. Now that doesn't mean I need to eating whatever I want, but I do anyways. My dear puppy dog, Patton is also putting on the pounds. Mike picked her up last night to carry her around (doesn't everyone who owns a lab carry their grown labs around?) and thought she seemed quite a bit heavier. So he weighed her on our scale and she's gained at least TEN pounds. It really isn't her fault the poor dog didn't get out and run or walk for about a month due to the snow. Up until our snowfall on Christmas Patton and I were running/walking about three to four times a week. She wasn't quite getting her normal workout since pregnancy does slow me down a bit, but at least she was getting something. The last month she's been laying around while I use the treadmill, one of these days we may have to train her to use the treadmill. We are now back to getting outside and she is loving every second of it! Let's hope the snow holds off for the rest of the winter! Both Patton and I are looking forward to April when we can get back into our running routine. Being pregnant is fun and exciting, but there comes a point when you just want your body back and you want to be able to move like I used to!

7 more weeks to go until the big due date! I know I'm ready in many ways, but at the same time our little world here in the Howell household is about to change forever.

Royals Fan Fest

Last Saturday Mike and Drew had a daddy/son date. They went to the Royals Fan Fest with friends Kent and Dylan. The boys had a great time! Drew enjoyed the bean bag toss as you can see in the pictures.



The boys came home with some freebies too. They got some new shirts, blue beads, backpacks, and a new pennant. Drew also enjoyed seeing Sluggerrr, as long as he didn't get too close!

A Night of Food and Bowling

We celebrated Mike's big birthday this past Saturday with some friends and family. Unfornately, we were missing quite a few people due to baby sitter issues, one couple actually had a baby and couldn't make it (I'm not sure why Dustin and Amy couldn't have planned things a little differently...although Mike is thrilled to share his birthday with their new baby boy, Ben), and others had some other prior engagments.

We enjoyed getting some time with friends and without kids! We ate dinner at Panzons and then played 4 games of bowling. Some bowled better than others (I won't go into any details here), but we all had a great time!

2 Years 3 Months

Drew is 27 months old today. He's growing and changing and surprises us with new things almost daily. Here are some updates:

-A new phrase Drew is using "I don't know." (he uses this when he does know the answer too)
-He is enjoying his new toys from Christmas, Buzz & Woody are still a huge hit around here. He likes to quote parts of the Toy Story Movies.
-He has officially transitioned out of the crib and into the big boy bed. Naps are much much better. He hasn't left his bed in over a week (knock on wood this continues).
-He has memorized most of the book, "Goodnight Moon."
-He has also memorized most of his nightly prayer.
-Still playing cars like crazy - cars are also a hot item around here
-Counting on his own (we used to have ask him to count and he seems much more into counting now, he is also getting better with one to one correspondence)
-He enjoys helping out in the kitchen (decorating cookies or mixing things together)
-"He did tell me today to get my foot off the table and be careful."
-Refers to the baby's room as his "sister's room." (he's made many references to her without us initiating it
-Drew is loving all the babies around him. He just loves cousin Dean (probably because Dean gives him the biggest smile each time) and he loves cousin Peter too. He gets right in their faces (or at least tries too) and talks in a high pitched voice.
-Drew goes around talking for either Buzz, Woody, Puppy, or Bear and he uses the highest pitched voice possible - it is pretty cute
-Drew has become extremely independent and wants to do what he wants when he wants to and this can be difficult to live with at times. It can be a struggle to get him to eat, take a bath, put his coat on, etc. The days when sweet little Drew does exactly what we want are pretty much over (luckily he is still pretty darn cute)
-He does a lot of unexpected hugs or pats on the arm and smiles at us, we love those moments!
-Drew spends a lot of his time "hiding" under blankets, we watch him on the video monitor at night or during naps and he sits in his bed quietly hiding
-Drew is still enjoying playing with Patton and other times he's bossing her around (she is always ready for his nap or bed time when she can have some peace and quiet).
-Drew has also gotten very good at talking on the phone, you can have a real conversation with him.
-Not too long ago Drew was sitting on my lap after bath and I was brushing his hair. We were in front of the mirror, he told me "That's me, I'm cute."
-Drew has taken a liking to Frosty the snowman and loves the movie and we have a little stuffed animal that dances.
-When I sneezed recently he said, "I bless you."
-Says "Oh no" in context
-Sometimes Drew feels he needs to say the opposite of what we say for example I might say, "That is a nice shirt." and he'll promptly say, "That's NOT a nice shirt." He uses this in all areas, it was funny at first, but not so much anymore!


I'm sure there are many more things I'm forgetting but this is a good update for now!

Happy 30th Birthday Mikey!

Today is Mike's big birthday! Since the weather isn't ideal, Drew and I are home enjoying our snow day (another wonderful perk of being a teacher) and Mike got home early since some of his patients canceled. We braved the cold and went out for lunch and we plan to do the same for dinner!

I know that turning 30 is a big deal for most people (I won't have to experience this for over another year...I don't mind being on the younger side now that I'm past 21) but really it should be a celebration for Mike! Since this is my blog I will get to do a little bragging on my amazing husband! I am quite impressed than he's finished dental school and has now owned his own business for almost 4 years already, not many people can't say that at age 30. Mike also has one amazing little boy and a little girl on her way soon. So I'm very proud of my husband!

It has been a fun break!

I've had a great Christmas break! This will be such a memorable Christmas season. Drew starting to get the whole Santa idea and all the snow we've gotten! I can believe my 16 days of break are about over. We enjoyed a lot of family time and even got some things done around the house. I can't believe my next big break will be spring break and that is when baby girl is due! We've pretty much gotten Drew's big boy room all done and the transition is going ok. He's slept every night in his big boy bed for two weeks now and has done great! Naps haven't been quite as good, but it hasn't been terrible either! Our next plan is getting the baby's room done and maybe finalizing a name (but at this rate it will probably be a hospital decision).
