Drew has been two for a month now, hard to believe. His language has been continuing to grow and he says something that surprises us almost every day. He's already repeated a curse word (thanks to daddy), but luckily has only said it that one time. He truly has full conversations with us, which is amazing. He's been perfecting his phone skills, if he's in the mood he will ask and answer questions that actually go along with the conversation.
The other day we were getting ready to go to his friends birthday party and Drew was helping me gather the present we were giving Ryan. He asked me if the toy was for Ryan and I told him yes. He then proceeds to tell me "Ryan is lucky." Where did that come from? That really blew me away!
Drew is very into hiding these days. We typically do most of our hiding after bath time. He gets dried off and off he goes into one of his few hiding spots. He picks the same places over and over. He also will hide under a blanket or hide his eyes right in front of us and really think he's hiding. It is quite cute. When hiding he typically prefers daddy hides with him, but tonight we encouraged him to go hide so he ran off to his room. He laid on his chair, rear end up and eyes covered. He really thought this was a good place to hide. To give you an even better picture, he did this right after his bath and before he had gotten his diaper and pjs on (as I type this I'm in hysterics with the scene Mike and I came upon).
He is also very into running. He makes numerous laps around the house each night. He also is very into cars. He "plays cars" all day and night.
Drew has also been working on his imagination. He plays imaginary football. It is amazing how much he pretends. He is also starting to have conversations between his two hands. I need to try and get one on video if I can do it without him knowing. He talks for each hand and the conversations make sense.
On our way to daycare last week he told me he saw elephants. The last time I checked there were no elephants along 159th street. I decided then and there we had to go the zoo last weekend so he could see some real elephants. He also yelled out "all aboard" on that same drive. I just love experiencing his new words and phrases, we truly never know what he'll say next! For instance last week we were at my O.B. appointment. Drew got to tag along and that was a treat in itself! I had to take him with me to the bathroom and later when we were in the exam room with the doctor, Drew told the doctor "mom potty." I know there are many more embarrassing moments ahead of me!
Drew still loves Franklin, but now he also has added "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" to his requests. We are asked to watch Toy Story many times throughout the day. He is now very into tv and would watch it all day if allowed.
A not so pleasant milestone he's reached is the terrible twos. I think the second he turned two these terrible two tantrums started. He still has many many sweet moments, but now he has a little independence to add to the mix. We are working through these and trying to figure out the best way to deal with these moments. Let's just hope we figure this out soon!
