Picture Update

Life is busy these days and I don't post like I used to, but I still take tons of pics!  Here's a few pics and of course I have a ton of Wyatt since he spends every moment of every day with me!

 Anna and her buddy Livi, we've enjoyed having Livi with us during some afternoons this school year.  I miss her mommy so much and I love having a little bit of Patsy in our lives!

Anna - 6 years 2 months

Dear Sweet Anna,

You've had a great month.  Life has been busy for you as your school year comes to an end.  We are in disbelief that our little girl will be done with her first year of elementary school.

This past month your class had their kindergarten musical. Your class dressed as monkeys, so cute.  You did not want a speaking part at all, but you did memorize some of your friend's speaking parts.  I have a feeling you may ask for a part next year, but who knows.  You and one other little girl did get to play an instrument during one song.  You got to perform your musical for the school during an assembly before you performed for the parents that night, Drew came home and said "Anna just stood up there."  When I asked you how it went you said, "Great, but I don't know when I'm supposed to play my instrument."  I got a little nervous about this and tried to talk it through with you, for some reason you didn't seemed phased by all this and couldn't wait to perform that night.  That night you sang your little heart out and did great during your instrumental debut.  Daddy and I were so proud of you!

Your soccer season is about over and I have to say you've turned the corner. You have become quite aggressive this past month and you are scoring goals. I love watching you play my favorite sport!  I have enjoyed being an assistant soccer coach for your team and I'm now trying to decide if I should coach in the fall or not.

Your reading is continuing to come along so well.  You are enjoying finding books at the library and around the house that you can read. You have really gotten into writing for fun at home and drawing pictures.  You can go through a lot of paper these days.  You room is always full of your new creations and I have to go through weekly to declutter your room when you are at school.  I've also noticed your vocabulary exploding lately.  You hear sayings either at school or on tv and then you try them out.  Sometimes they make sense and other times they definitely don't.  I need to start keeping track of your sayings and the new words you are using it is so funny!

A couple sayings you've said lately:

"Moms these days...."
"Dads these days..."
"I intended to..."
"What gives?"

I've noticed lately that you like wearing more athletic type clothing.  Earlier in the school year you wanted to wear a dress and boots everyday and now you want to wear a t-shirt, leggings, thumb hole jacket, and tennis shoes every day.  You'd wear the exact same outfit every day if I let you.  You really like you chiefs t-shirt, royals, t-shirt, and your KU t-shirt (you've informed me you just like the shirt, not really the jayhawker - thanks Nans).  You do ask to wear a dress on the weekends sometimes, but over all you have become my little sporty girl.

Favorites:
-playing barbies, dolls, school, princesses
-watching Sofia on your iPad
-writing notes
-eating snacks - always asking for goldfish, candy, popsicles

We can't wait or another exciting month.  It will be hard watching your kindergarten year come to an end.  I am going to miss my girl being home in the afternoons with me!  Wyatt will miss you too!

Wyatt - 20 months

Dear Wyatt,


You are still the busiest boy we know!  You haven't slowed down this past month.  Every waking moment you are running full speed ahead.


Eating/Nursing - You are becoming a picky toddler these days.  You like pb&j one day and the next you don't.  You like yogurt one day and then won't eat it the next, but you will eat black beans and pizza every day all day long.  You are still nursing but not every day.  This past month you haven't nursed every night before bed.  You usually just nurse if you wake up at night.  So we are slowly weaning.

Sleeping - Naps are going really well these days.  You sleep 1.5-2 hours most days.  You go down around 1 or 2 depending on what is going on that day.  You go down to bed around 8 and sleep most mornings until 7 or 8.  You do get up about 3 nights a week I'd say lately.


Speech Evaluation - This past month we had JOCO Infant Toddler Services come out and evaluate your speech.  You just barely didn't qualify.  So we have to keep a close watch on you and if you aren't saying 15 words unprompted by the end of summer we'll have to set up another evaluation.  The therapists who came out got quite a kick out of you and said you were a smart little boy and likely just a late talker, you have plenty of people around you to do the hard work for you.  Your receptive speech was months ahead of where it needed to be (so you know what we are saying to you).

This past month you've been climbing like a crazy man.  You are non stop getting into stuff.  You move the chairs around to where you want to climb.  You have also started galloping.  It is the cutest thing ever, it is rather impressive to watch such a little guy gallop around the house. You have also started running away when you get in trouble, it is hard not to crack a smile.


Some new words or actions: When something is stinky you wave your hands in front of nose and make a spitting sound.  Too funny!  You also say "brrr" when I say something is cold.


Theses days you are wearing shoes size 4/5 and clothing size 18 month pants, shirts 18-24 months, shorts 12-18 months.

You had your 6th haircut this month, you've got the hair!!!

Before bed you really like to read a book or two and sing songs.  You love Itsy Bitsy spider and you really like the hand movements we do with the song.  You also love Twinkle Twinkle and saying your prayers.  You always start the hand movements on what song you want to sing, so sweet!

Drew - 8 years 7 months

Dear Drew,

My biggest boy!  How are you almost done with 2nd grade?  You really just started second grade or at least it feels that way!  This past month you've been wrapping up your school year and finishing up soccer.  Life is busy, but getting a little more carefree with the soccer season over.  This past month you really stepped up your reading minutes for school and read over a thousand minutes during the month of April.  I'm amazed how you fly through books.  You absolutely love to read (at night time).  Daddy and I've caught you up late reading quite a few times lately, it could be worse!

Baseball has started and you have had some amazing hits!  You don't always score a run and don't always get on base, but you hit hard and play your little heart out.  I'm impressed.  You hits are amazing and especially amazing because you are one of the smaller boys on your team.  Daddy keeps telling you the power will come as your grow, just keep on swinging and trying hard.  I love how you know the game and know where to throw the ball when you field it.  You are pretty darn good in the field.  Your team isn't the most athletic of teams, but you are a fun group of boys.  Daddy loves being an assistant coach and the two of you practice together a lot at home.

Soccer was another amazing season.  You guys moved up to the 3rd division and your record was 7-0-1.  We are waiting for the last games of your division to be played before we hear if your team won first place or tied for first place.  Quite amazing.  Soccer is still my favorite sport to watch of yours.  The footwork you have is awesome and I"m so amazed how you get out there during a game and try out new moves.  So cool you have that confidence in yourself!  Daddy and I have noticed that you have become very speedy lately, you can outrun quite a bit of kids you play against.  I'm pretty sure you'd try out track if I let you. You want to play every sport possible, if only there were more hours in your day!

This past month you've really opened up to me and daddy about a friendship rough patch you are going through. It kills daddy and I to see you upset, but we also get to see what a mature little boy you are and we also have seen your little heart of gold shine through.  You are very sensitive boy.  Luckily things are getting better and we love seeing your happy face!

We look forward to this next month as you finish second grade (insert very sad face for mom and dad - you are getting way too big) and you start your carefree summer!  We love you Drew and we are so proud to call you our son!
