A Few Firsts for the Week

On Tuesday Drew started pointing at things (no pictures of this yet). He hasn't done it a ton, but we've noticed it a few times since Tuesday. For instance...last night he had some food on his high chair tray he wasn't too impressed with and he saw me open the bag of Fritos and started pointed and begging. It was pretty funny!

His third tooth is about to pop through the gums. He is working on one of his top front teeth (tooth letter "F" for all of you that prefer the dental term). Drew hasn't shown any real signs of teething, he's still the sweet baby he's always been.

Drew also decided to hold his bottle through about half of his feeding. I put him in his high chair and reclined the seat and he did pretty well (I did get a pic of this).

Tonight we went to Austins for dinner, it is a bar grill down the street, and Drew ordered his first meal from the kids menu. I've always brought his food with us and then he'd have a few bites from our plates. Tonight I made it simple and ordered him a grilled cheese, and he ate 1/2 of it, which is amazing for him. He loves grilled cheese! He also had a side of applesauce, he prefers that over fries (actually I didn't give him a choice).

This week has been pretty uneventful for the three of us. We took a couple walks here and there, Mike worked on the Jeep and fixed a problem it was having. I've been to trainings for my new position the last three days, so I'm looking forward to seeing my kids at school tomorrow. Drew and Daddy will be spending some time together tomorrow, while I'll slave away at work (not really).

Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend. We stayed fairly busy. We met the Taylors for dinner on Friday and for a quick walk around Town Center. Our Friday nights are so exciting these days that after Drew went to bed I headed to the neighborhood Price Chopper to get the weekly shopping out of the way!

On Saturday Mike and I played tag team. He stayed home with Drew for the first half of the day while I took my mom out to lunch and to get a pedicure for her birthday. When I got home Mike left for his fantasy football draft. So we didn't get much time together, but we both enjoyed our time with Drew.

On Sunday I met Kate for a run and then Mike, Drew, and I met the Burlesons for brunch at Granite City. It was really good! It was fun seeing Sam and baby Will. We had a table for four adults plus three highchairs.

We then drove around looking at houses for fun. We hope someday... not in the too far future we'll be moving to a little larger house. Our house right now is being taken over by baby toys! If we could just add a dining room and living room (to use as a toy room) to our house we could probably be set, but all we have is a family room. So all of Drew's toys are housed in our living area. It is tight!

Sunday evening we went over to my mom's house for her birthday and had some pizza and lasagna. It was tastey and Drew loved the pizza! My kind of boy!

Once again I'm having trouble with my pictures. I usually cut and paste them throughout the post, but cut is now not an option for some reason. So the pics aren't in any particular order!

Drew got to visit the park. He still isn't quite old enough to really enjoy it. That is something that will change soon as he is becoming more mobile. He liked the slide somewhat and the swings made him cry. He loved the tunnel though.

This week we haven't been up to much other than work and relaxing in the evenings. Life is so much different for me now that I'm back to work. I don't have much to report during the week unless you want to hear all about my work.

I will tell you a bit. I do love my new job so far as resource teacher, although I have yet to pull my kids out and work with them. It is all about scheduling this first week. Maybe tomorrow I'll finally get to see them! I went to a training today and it was great. So much to learn!

Drew is becoming quite the expert at pulling up. He's pulled up on the following things:

bath tub (well not quite...but close)

I bet the next step will be crusing along the furniture, so far he hasn't tried to move his feet once he gets up on something.

All week he has had great reports from all his caretakers. He's been a pretty good eater and sleeper. The most amazing thing to me is he is starting to eat from the spoon again.

Tomorrow is Friday! Yipeee!

We are back to being a working family. I'm not too sure how I feel about it! I enjoyed seeing coworkers these past three days, but I hate to say it but...I'm ready for summer again! Drew had an eventful three days. He visited Grandma Dot on Wednesday, Ms. Stacey on Thursday, and he was home with dad on Friday.

On Thursday Drew also made it way up to school to visit me during Ice Cream Social. My babysitter had to bring her son up so he could find out who is new teacher is, so Drew tagged along and got to hang out with mommy! It was fun showing him off to the staff and all my former students. I'm a very proud mom!

Drew is a traveling man during the school year. Here is his weekly scheudle (I'm waiting for the day we take him to the wrong place)

Monday - Grandma Sandy

Friday - home with dad and Patton

Every evening I decide what he will need the next day and get him packed. I pack his breakfast & lunch each day in his brand new Thomas lunch box (he doesn't even know who Thomas is yet, but he will soon enough). Depending on the day I pack diapers, formula, bottles, etc. Ms. Stacey has a stash of those things since he's there twice a week, but the rest of the time I just pack him up for the day. I guess I'm preparing myself for when he goes to school with the packing of the lunch. I have to pack myself a lunch too, so why not?

Soon enough all this will change when he turns a year, because we'll get rid of the bottles and go to cow's milk. He'll have to eat breakfast at home, so that will mix everything up. He is a very slow eater we'll probably have to get him up at 5 (just kidding). So until then this is the routine.

Drew has become quite the busy man. He is pulling himself up to his feet quite a bit. This morning he joined me in the kitchen and pulled up on the dishwasher. We are going to have to move his crib mattress all the way down because he is pulling up in the crib too!

We are off to a busy weekend. Drew has two birthday parties to attend.

My baby boy turned 10 months old yesterday. Two more months and he'll be one year old! I can't believe it!

This past month Drew has started many new things! He is clapping, giving high fives, screaming at the top of his lungs for fun (my ears are hurting as I type), he throws his food on the floor when he is done, pulling up to his knees and sometimes his feet, getting into a sitting position from lying down. He has also become very vocal, he says a lot of dadas, mamas, papas, nanas, he doesn't know what they mean yet but he loves chatting away. Yesterday on his 10 month birthday he pulled himself up in his crib right in front of me. He is still army crawling and gets around quite well. On Sunday he did get up on his knees (which he does often) but instead of getting back down to stomach before moving he took a few crawls on his knees.

This past weekend we participated in the Race for the Cure. I ran, while Mike & Drew walked. I've done this race several times before, but this year it has a whole new meaning to us since Grandma Sandy was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. Luckily she's doing great and has already undergone her radiation treatments. Drew and Mike got to walk with grandma and grandpa, and Drew had a sign on his stroller telling everyone who he was celebrating. I'll post a picture once I get one (Grandma Sandy took some, for once I forgot my camera).

These next pictures are of Drew in a fall/winter outfit. You may ask why he's wearing that in the middle of a hot August. Well this outfit is my favorite! I had bought one for Drew in the 3 month size and he wore that until it got too small and I happened to come across a bigger one in a second hand children's store so I couldn't resist. It is a 12 month size and I'm afraid he may be too big for it once it gets cold. So I had to put it on him and take some pictures (don't worry I didn't take him out of the air conditioning). It is amazing how much he has changed!

This boy has grown!!!

Another week down and where did the time go? Drew and I had a productive week. We went up to my school for a short visit on Monday. On Tuesday we had a big day, we saw my cousin, who prefers if Drew calls her Aunt Katy! It was fun catching up with her she moved to Dallas about a year ago. The funny thing is she is due to have a baby on October 10th, the same due date I had last year. So looking at her makes me think about where I was last year at this time. Hot and miserable! Katy looked great and is very excited to meet her baby boy, Charlie. After we had lunch with Katy we stopped by Great Nana and Great Pop Pop. Drew showed off some of his tricks and it was great seeing his great grandparents!

On Wednesday, we went to DeAnna Rose Farmstead with Great Aunt Peg, cousins Colleen, Jake, and Kaitlyn. The kids had a great time. Luckily the weather cooled down by Wednesday when we went. Both Monday and Tuesday were miserably hot!

On Wednesday we visited Aunt Julie and Ceila for a short visit after nap time and traveled to Wholefoods. I thought I would maybe try a few new foods for Drew, but nothing really looked worth the money to me. So poor Drew is going to have to live off the regular ole food his parents eat (I figure we've made it this far so he'll be fine). Drew is still refusing to eat from a spoon which may not seem like a big deal, but it has been consuming my mind! I'm just worried that he'll put up a big fight for all of his caretakers when I'm back at work. He just thinks he's too big to be fed by me. He'll go back to using a spoon someday...right?

On Thursday we went for a walk with Christie and Avery and then headed to Sam's Club later in the day. Christie and Avery had never been there, so Drew and I showed them the ropes. Avery and Drew sat in the cart together and good thing I had the camera, they were so cute. Avery is a very affectionate little girl and loves to hug and give kisses. Drew enjoys the hugs and kisses sometimes and other times he likes his space.

Today is our last Friday together as a family. I go back to work next Wednesday, so daddy and Drew get their day back to themselves. I'm going to miss my boys on Fridays, but I'm not going to dwell on it right now!
