Memorial Day Weekend

 We made the trip to the lake for Memorial Day.  It was full of fun and lots of craziness of course. Drew and Anna had a great time playing with their cousins, Peter and Ben.  All three big kids (ages 4.5, 2.5, and 2) bunked up in one room, which of course didn't go as perfectly as planned, but they did sleep each night.  Drew didn't like the lack of light, Peter kept dropping his cars out of his bed, and Anna was talking and standing up in the crib.  She even scooted the crib (it is on wheels) across the wood floors and was able to open the cracked door so they all could see what the adults were up to.  Never a dull moment. 

Drew was very proud of the lizard daddy caught for him.  He didn't want to touch it, but was talked into a picture with him.

 Of course the big boys (supposedly men), Mike and Greg got into a little trouble.

They lit a paper lantern off and then it got a little stuck on the roof of the house...they just stood there laughing, while their mother about had a heart attack.

 Conveniently Greg just had shoulder surgery so my husband got to go rescue the lantern on the roof...I wasn't too impressed with this move.

 He took my advice and scooted towards the ladder and thankfully made it off the roof without any issues!

Drew's Preschool Picnic

 On Wednesday we had Drew's last schooling event for the year.  We met at a park and had lunch and then the kids played and played.  I was lucky enough to sneak out of school for a couple hours and Mike was able to get way for a short time to meet up with us.  Drew had a wonderful year of preschool and we are so thankful he'll have the same teacher next year and he gets to come to school with me again!

Mother's Day Tea

Drew invited me to his Mother's Day Tea this past Tuesday.  It was so much fun.  The kids sang a couple songs and we had treats.  I was happily surprised by how well Drew did.  He sang and smiled (which are not always his favorite things to do).  He was so cute and I'm so thankful I work at the same school Drew goes to so I didn't have to miss this.  I just love my little boy and I love being his mommy!

Anna's First (real) haircut!

I've been meaning to get Anna's hair trimmed for quite sometime.  We finally got there today.  I told her we were going to get her hair cut today and she kept walking around the house saying, "I get hair tut."  She can't pronounce "cut."  Surprisingly she sat all by herself and did great!  We didn't get much cut, but I can tell it looks much healthier!!!  I just love it!

26 Month Old Baby Girl

Dear Nannies,

You have had a great month and you continue to amaze us with your language.  You say the funniest things and you say EVERYTHING!  You hear something and you turn around and say it yourself (this could become an issue – so we are watching what we say around you)! 

You are a very sweet little girl and lately I’ve gotten quite a few kisses right smack on the lips.  You also like to kiss your daddy and brother too.  I love how you hold my face I your hands and kiss me – it is the sweetest and cutest things.  You sometimes tell me, “Nannies kiss mommy’s nose.” 

When Drew and I drop you off in the mornings (when he and I have school) you get out of the car and you always remember to say, “bye Rew Rew.”  You’ve started to say “Drew” lately, but we still get to hear some “Rew Rew’s” from time to time.

You are doing much better with napping lately, although you always tells us “No nap.”   You like to warn us sometimes hours early that you don’t want a nap, you do however end up napping well.  You even took a 4 hour nap for daddy yesterday. 

You like playing outside in the sandbox and you also like to ride your bike or Drew’s scooter (amazingly you are very good at this). 

You are starting to show signs that you are ready for potty training.  You wake up and tell us “wet diaper, dry diaper.”  You’ often take your diaper off when you are in bed and somehow your bed is always dry.  You aren’t liking those wet diapers these days.  The other night I was in the kitchen making cookies and you and Drew were running around the family room, the next thing I know you come out to the kitchen without pants and you are holding your wet diaper in your hands.  You go straight to the trashcan and throw it away.  So I guess I better start figuring out how we go about this training thing – my method with Drew hasn’t exactly been successful so I’m going to try and different approach with you!  Let’s hope we are diaper free by the end of the summer, one can hope!!!

4 Years 7 Months

Dear Drew,

We’ve had a busy month and I can’t believe it is already time for another monthly post.  You have started soccer (which ends this next week) and seem to really enjoy it.  You are more focused than you were this time last year.  Although it is still quite typical for you to get stuck playing in the dirt or with another player and the ball may go right by you.  You had a break away last week and were able to dribble a few times before the ball went out of bounds.  You were so proud of yourself; it practically counts as a goal…right?

School is going well, although I think you may be ready for a little break with mommy!  We are on the downhill and I think you and I both need some time to sit back and enjoy each other’s’ company!

You are very much into playing spies today.  You play spies at school non-stop at recess and now you’ve been collecting spy gear from McDonalds.  I love how you tell us that you are spying on us – it is nice to get a heads up!

I wasn’t great about keeping notes on funny sayings, but I do have one good one:

We were over at the Taylor’s house and Celia had her knees up her shirt while you were sitting next to her. You looked over at her and said, “You look like a mother.”  I’m pretty sure you were referring to her chest – oh you notice EVERYTHING!  Such a funny boy! 

We love you so much and Mommy can’t wait to enjoy summer time with you!
