Birthday Party!!!

Drew had a great time at his party.  This year we had family and invited some friends too.  We had planned on renting a huge bounce house, but since it rained ALL day we didn't get to.  We were able to borrow a small bounce house that fit perfectly in the garage.  The kids all seemed to have a great time playing and jumping!

Birthday Celebrations

I'm pretty sure you had a great 5th birthday.  It was a busy day, but a good one.  The night before I decorated your doorway with streamers.  You thought it looked pretty neat (but you did tell me you weren't sure you liked being tickled -such a "Drew response").  We got Anna up first that day so she could come in and get you up on your birthday.  You woke up with the sweetest smile on your face.  You had been waiting so long for your birthday!  You opened one present before we left, it was a Captain America shirt.  You got to wear it to school.

Today you got to celebrate your birthday at school with your class.  You and I made chocolate chip cookies to share.  You then spent the day with Toots.  You met Pa for lunch.
Had to get our "five" picture in at school
After I got off work, you had you last swimming lesson and then we went to dinner at Old Town Pizza. We then opened presents and had cake.  For some reason I didn't get a picture of Drew on his new big boy bike!  I had a video but  didn't get a picture.  That was his big gift! What a fun day!!!

Nannie Girl is 2 years and 7 months

How can you be past 2.5 already?  Our little baby is getting closer and closer to not being a baby.  It makes daddy and I sad.  But we love the little person you are..  Once again you have kept us laughing this month.   You do funny things and all we can say is, "That is so Anna."  You talk non-stop and you are a little busy body.  You are very girly when it comes to babies, purses, make-up(pretend of course), and talking on your pretend phone (holding it on your ear with your shoulder and you are darn good)!  You are so into babies and that is exactly how I was as a little girl - I love it!  Lucy is still by far your favorite baby and sometimes it seems like she's our third child.  We have to make sure we don't forget her and I have to help you dress her all the time (she even wears a diaper most of the time).

You still love to break out into song.  You typically sing nonsense words and at a very loud level.  Daddy even caught you on video the other day in the car and you were going to town and then stopped suddenly when you saw you were on camera.  Hilarious!

Napping is still going great.  You do have days here and there you don't sleep, but you typically just play in your crib.  You can go without naps if we are out and about and get too busy for a nap, but after a day or two of that you need to catch up.

You are getting less particular on how you wear your hair these days.  You don't fight me too often right now, like you did a month or two ago. You do however want input on what clothing you are wearing.  You do a great job brushing your teeth.  You are even a pro at spitting out the toothbrush which amazes me because it seems like Drew finally just got that hang of that himself.  You just love to spit!

We have done nothing with potty training since school has started.  It isn't even a thought these days.  I don't even want to try encouraging you until after our Disney trip in December.  I think it will be a bit easier if you just keep on wearing diapers for the trip.  At this rate you will probably be three before we really start the process, but who knows!

Funny sayings/stories:
-You were putting your sock on over your shoe the other day.  I looked back at you and said, "What am I going to do with you?"  and you responded, "Go to Deanna Rose and see animals."  You are too funny and so random!

-We were talking about going to the pumpkin patch and seeing the animals there.  I said, "we saw piglets yesterday."  and you responded "and Peter."  We did see Peter, but I was talking about the animals we saw...it was pretty funny in the moment.

-You were talking on your pretend phone (you do this all the time) and said, "Policeman bring Drew to Deanna Rose."

I think you have a thing for Deanna Rose, it has been a while since we've been there!

Happy 5th Birthday Baby Boy!

Happy Birthday to our sweet little boy!  It seems like you've been around forever, but then again, 5 sounds so old!  We've (daddy and I) had some tears with this big birthday.  What happened to that little baby boy we could hold in our arms?  Daddy and I are so proud of you.  You are such a good little boy and have so many amazing qualities.  We love the little person you are growing up to be.  You are a great big brother and you really care about your little sister (minus the moments she frustrates you by taking your toys). You have also just started taking a special interest in your puppy dog lately.  You talk to her all the time and are so sweet with her, she responds nicely most of the time (sometimes she prefers to be left alone).

You are such a smart little boy.  You have become quite interested in math these days.  You have been counting by twos and you really understand that you are skipping numbers when you do that.  You also figured out how to skip count by threes.  I am still careful not to get too excited when you surprise me with your smartness.  If I act too excited you shut down and quit the academics.  It is all about it being your idea and the right timing.  You like to add things up and you always think of problems in your head and then tell me your answers.  I've brought some math pages home I've found in the copy room at school (probably left by a kindergarten teacher) and you've done amazing!  You have added and subtracted, you totally get it.  I love seeing the wheels turn in your head!

As much as we miss you as a baby boy and toddler, we are loving watching you grow up right before our eyes.  It is amazing watching you make connections and learning new things. We love you so much little man!  Happy 5th Birthday!

We love you!!!

8 Wonderful Years

Mikey and I celebrated 8 years of marriage today.  It is so hard to believe it has been 8 years.  We have accomplished a lot in these 8 years and I feel so lucky to have such a great guy at my side.  I love you very much hunny and I can't wait to see what the next 8 years brings us!

Love you Mikey!

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we headed out to Johnsons Farm.  They have quite the Pumpkin Patch set up, there are a lot of fun things to do there.  It is also really pretty close to our new house.  It was very cold and we probably could have been dressed a little warmer, but overall it was a fun experience.  We got our pumpkins, the kids played, we saw animals (including 17 piglets that were 8 days old -so cute). We planned to meet Aunt Kelley, Peter, and Ben there and last minute Pa and Toots were able to join us . It was fun fun fun!
