Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a reminder to everyone to give thanks.  I know this should be done more often, but sometimes it takes that extra reminder.  We have so much to be thankful for and I'd like to reflect on it!

My husband - Mike is my rock and is always by my side.  He puts things into perspective for me and I appreciate his constant love.  He also is the reason I have those other two perfect little beings in our house.

Our kids - Drew and Anna are our lives.  They bring so much joy into our lives and we feel so lucky we were chosen to be their parents.

Our 4 legged baby - Patton is such a funny dog.  She keeps us laughing and we appreciate her constant love.  We are also so amazed by how much she's grown to love her siblings.  She puts up with a lot!  I also love her constant desire to get out and run with me, she makes me feel a little safer out there running in the dark.

Our parents - I'm not sure where we'd be without them.  They help us out so much with the kids and are constantly guiding us through life.  We are so lucky to have them in town!  Our kids are also so thankful for their grandparents they just love spending time with them!

Our brothers - We both are so lucky to have such loving older brothers!

Family - and all the rest of our family.  Just about everyone else is in town and we are both so lucky to have grown up with close families and I'm so glad our kids get to take part in extended family get togethers.

Friends - We have some wonderful friends in our lives and we feel blessed to have them!
 
 Our jobs - We both have jobs that we enjoy and that makes life all that much better!

Ok I could go on and on, but I'll stop for now!  Life is good and we are lucky!  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thanksgiving

Well we had our first ever Thanksgiving at our house this year.  It was just our family of 5 (including Patton of course).  We are usually running around to at least two houses and sometimes we've made as many as 4 stops in one day.  This year our plan was to trek to Hutchinson and back all in the same day.  Well we should have seen the change in plans coming last weekend when Drew came down with croup and an ear infection...he was better by Monday/Tuesday and of course guess who started showing signs of the nasty virus????  Anna!  On Wednesday morning she seemed fine, but by nap time she was running a fever and barking like a seal.  I took her Wednesday evening to the doctor and she got a dose of steriods to help with the croup.  She didn't have an ear infection (yet).  So we kept going back an forth...should we go or not?  We ended up deciding it was best for her to rest and not stress it by a big day of driving.  We enjoyed being home and Drew enjoyed playing with his toys.  We even got the paint out and Anna got to paint for the first time.  She loved it!  For lunch we ventured out to the McDonalds drive thru.  For dinner we did have the traditional Thanksgiving meal, Mike went and picked up food at his parents!  Thanks Sandy! 

We also used our time wisely and decorated the tree and put up the nativity scene.  Christmas is going to be so much fun this year.  Drew is so excited and Anna seems to get into it just as much as Drew (even if she doesn't know what it all means).  Having kids makes the holidays all that more special!

 

 

Mommy Day!

Today was our first Mommy Day since August.  According to our family a  Mommy Day is defined as a day that mommy stays home with Drew and Anna and daddy is working.  The kids are so lucky to get a Daddy Day once a week on Fridays when I'm working.  So Drew's been asking about having a Mommy Day a lot lately and to him weekends don't count since both Daddy and I are around.

So today was the day!  We ran a couple errands and I had a doctor's appointment, but other than that we spent some nice quality time at home.  Anna is sick with the croup and took a 3 hour nap so Drew and I had time to play.  We played games, did puzzles, and made cookies.  Today made me long for our lazy summer days.  I can't wait until June!!!

Basketball

Drew just finished his three week season of basketball.  He enjoyed himself, but did struggle from the transition from flag football to basketball.  He wanted to get in there and tackle (or grab flags).  The first four sessions were practice and the last two were games.  The practicing was a little too slow paced for Drew, so at times he would just take off and run circles on his own.  He also did some spinning on the court.  He did enjoy the games, he loved running from one end of court to the other.  I don't want to forget to mention his defense skills....he's great at putting his hands up in front of the opponent or even kids on his own team. He also did some great stare downs.  He looked quite intimidating.
