Drew's BIG News!

Baby Number two is due March 15, 2010!

See that?

We hear these two words coming out of Drew's mouth constantly. He'll do something he finds pretty neat and he'll say "see that mom" or "see that dad." He typically repeats the action over and over and says, "see that" over and over. It is his version of "watch me." This little boy literally talks nonstop from the time he wakes up until bed time. It seems when Drew is in the car we notice this the most. He talks to us constantly and demands we turn around to look at him, if we don't turn he repeats whatever it is he's saying over and over until we do. He doesn't quite understand it is important that the driver faces forward, one of these days he'll get it.

Life has gotten quite a bit busier now that I'm back at work and Drew is back to daycare. He seems to cry at most places when he's dropped off, but throws a fit when he's picked up in the afternoon. He really enjoys playing with the different kids he sees throughout the week. He's the youngest kiddo by far, but he doesn't seem to notice. He plays with two four year olds and then he also gets to play with a five and three year old. I'm told he gets right in there and tries to keep up with the big kids.

Drew is very into tents these days. Grandma made him a "tent" out of cushions a week or so ago and he loved it. So we did that at home with a blanket and his little kid table. I guess we should call them forts, more than a tent. This week Drew's dream came true, he got to play in a tepee tent at my friend, Patsy's house. Her kids aren't as into the tent now that they are bit older so she sent the tent home with us so we could borrow it. We've been playing in the tent ever since!

Drew is a very smart cookie (I may be a bit biased)! The other day I was driving him to daycare and because our normal route had been so backed up with traffic the day before, I turned sooner that I typically do. As I was turning, Drew pipes up in the back seat "this way mama" he was pointing to the way we typically go. I just couldn't believe that he really was familiar with our route. He only goes that way with me 2-3 times a week and when we go other places we turn where I turned that day. So it wasn't like he has never gone that way before, it just wasn't typical for our drive to daycare. I'm not always great with directions, so I'm hoping Drew will be able to help me out!

Busy Times

We had a busy end to our week last week and this weekend has been a bit busy too. I started back to school (as a SPED teacher, still hoping we add two more kids so I can move to 3rd grade...it is a bit far fetched, but one can hope).

Drew spent time with Grandma, Pa, and Celia on Wednesday and he went to his babysitter's on Thursday. On Friday Mike and Drew spent the day together. So summer is officially over for Drew and I, and Mike's pretty bummed because he enjoyed seeing Drew at lunch everyday! Drew did pretty well parting from mom, which I thought we'd have a bit more of an issue. He loves playing with all the kids and loves everyone who watches him, so that helps a lot! We are very lucky!

We also had the our friends, the Corsers stay with us Thursday night through this morning. So our house has been a busy place. I had my ten year high school reunion last night and it was interesting seeing people. Today we are hoping to get caught up around the house and relax! We did take Drew for his first McDonalds experience, I don't think he's ever eaten at McDonalds (he's had their food when we've gone through the drive thru). He loved his pancakes and he also experienced his first juice box. It was a special treat because if he ever gets juice it is always watered down a ton! He seemed to enjoy his experience!

Drew loved "holding" baby Jackson. Jackson is only 9 months younger than Drew, but he didn't see it that way.

22 Months...2 months until 2!.

Our little guy is growing like a weed and developing into such a little boy. He's really turning into a little comedian. Certain times during the day he just does the silliest things and it just cracks us up. He knows he's funny and it seems he does most of his comedy routines at the dinner table! He is also getting busier by the day. Lately, all he wants to do is "RUN." He just takes off and runs around in circles if there isn't space to run. I have taken him up to my school for some short trips (in hopes of getting something done) and oh my...it has been impossible to get a thing done. He is into everything and he doesn't like taking "no" for an answer.

Two of the newest skills we've noticed lately are counting and learning the letters of the alphabet. I have a great video of him counting, but it won't upload on the blog, so I'll try taking a new video soon. He counts to ten with a little help (he always leaves out 7). He is also starting to notice letters. When asked to sing the ABC's he says "A...C", but seems to get "QRS" when we get to that point in the song. So we do have a long ways to go with the letters. The most amazing thing to us is he points out letters on different things. Now he calls all letters "A.C." The other day he had a package of gum and he pointed to the lettering and said "Mom...A.C." I wonder where he gets this stuff.

This little guy continues to amaze us each day and we feel so lucky to be his parents!

Crazy (and maybe really crazy )Times Ahead

Well it is August now, which we all know means SCHOOL! I'll be heading back to work on the 12th and Drew will be getting back into daycare/grandmas routine. It will be a bit of a rude awakening for us all. Drew has been going to bed later this summer, sleeping in longer, and taking later naps. So I should probably be getting him back on track NOW! Patton will also have a rude awakening or maybe she'll be excited...she'll have less time out of the cage with mom and Drew. She tends to get annoyed with Drew chasing her these days so she might be ok with a little less Drew time!

I am also sitting on pins and needles with my job situation. I'll be at the same school which is great and a relief. But my exact title is up in the air. Right now I'm a sped teacher, but there is a slim chance I'll be a third grade teacher again! That is what I am really hoping for, but staying in sped wouldn't be the end of the world either (it would make my life a lot easier if I didn't go back to the classroom). We are a few kids away from adding a third grade section, so I'm sitting and waiting. If it happened I'd have to pack up my classroom and be moved somewhere (who knows where....we don't have a classroom waiting...I might end up in one of the trailers). I'd have to unpack, organize, plan, etc. The kids come next Thursday evening to meet their teacher and they start school on the 17th. So if my wish came true my life would get incredibly crazier, but I wouldn't complain! Enrollment is this Thursday and Friday, so I'll be up there snooping around and sitting by my phone at home waiting for the news. So cross your fingers for me...but if it does happen I'll need some prayers so I can get it all done in a short amount of time!

UPDATE: It doesn't look like 3rd grade is going to open up for me. There may be a chance or two in another grade, so I'm not giving up hope yet. I'll keep updating, it would be nice to know either way soon!

UPDATE (August 11): Third grade is only a couple away from adding a section. I still have hope, but maybe I shouldn't. We were only 1 away yesterday, but lost one today. Ahhh this roller coaster ride is crazy!
