End of the Basketball Season

Drew loved playing basketball this season.  He made some great improvement and it will be fun to see the overall improvement from this year to next.  Drew kept track of the score at every game and he was probably the only one who did.  The coaches never knew the scores and none of the other kids did either.  Our boy loves his sports and math!  His team was 2 and 5, so Drew is hoping for a winning season next year.  He has already talking about recruiting some of this other friends (and he also mentioned he hopes a few of the kids on his team retire...I kept my mouth shut on that one).  Regardless he had fun!

 such a crew!

Valentine's Day Fun

We had a nice Valentine's day.  It was great that it was on a Friday, Mike was off work and Drew was off for conferences.  The kids got a couple of Valentine presents from daddy and I.

puzzles for Anna and Legos for Drew
 yummy heart shaped donuts
 yum!
she was so proud of her finished puzzles

Later that night we went to the Lego Movie and then went to Minsky's for pizza.  It was a fun filled family day!

The next night, Daddy & I got to enjoy our Valentine's Day celebration.  The kids stayed with Ma & Pa so we could go to a movie.  Not only did we celebrate Valentine's day, but also the anniversary of our engagement.  It was 11years ago that we got engaged...how fast time has flown!

Anna's Valentine's Day Party

Anna had her party last Thursday and since Drew was off school for conferences he got to come with us.  The party was a crazy whirlwind of a party, I guess that is what is expected in preschool.  I'm still not quite used to a room full of 3 and 4 year olds (2nd and 3rd graders are more my speed).  It is so funny watching them all, at times they are all in a totally different worlds.  Games, crafts, etc are hard with these little people!  I made sugar cookies for the kids and then brought frosting and sprinkles for them to decorate their cookies with.   Anna had a great time and kept smiling at Drew and I.  She's quite proud that she's such a big girl in school!

Drew's Valentine's Day Party

I am so thrilled that I got to be a part of Drew's party.  Drew's teacher included the party as part of her mini unit on manners.  So we had  a Sweetheart Tea to attend.  The kids were asked to dress up.  Drew requested I buy him a tie, so I did.  He then was upset that I didn't get him a sports coat.  I had no idea he'd get this into the party.  I kind of figured he wouldn't care for the whole idea all that much, I was wrong!  He wore his shirt and tie all day the day before the party and played "work" and then I finally talked him into letting me wash and iron it for the big day.  After the party he didn't take the shirt off until bath time.  He even wore it to my doctors appointment and with the top hat his teacher gave him.  Mrs. D taught the boys how to escort the girls and pull their chair out for them.  They also did a little dance.  Drew loved every second of it!  He told Anna that if she was coming to the party, she had to dress up too.  He didn't have to tell her twice, she picked out her red Christmas dress.  Anna was very lucky to get to sit by Drew and take part in the party.  Another mom and I got to serve the kids and we even wore an apron, the kids thought that was pretty fun!

Here is Drew's awesome football Valentine box - it turned out quite well!
so proud!!!

3 years and 11 months....

 Dear Anna,

You are officially one month away from being 4.  Ahh!  Mommy and Daddy are not ready for our baby to be so old!  You are maturing so much these days and are constantly saying and doing things that just amazes us!  You are loving school and talk about your two little friends Sabrina and Finley a lot.  I also heard from Sabrina's mom that she talks about you at home too.  It is so fun seeing you make friends all on your own, such a big girl.  You are still taking gymnastics once a week and you seem to love it.  You can't wait for gymnastics day each week!  You have recently started a ballet class on Thursdays afternoon.  You think it is great and you will have a performance in April.  I can't wait to see how you do!  You love wearing your ballet outfits and you plan ahead on what outfit you'll wear to each class, so cute!

As girly as you are one moment the next moment you are such a tomboy!  You ended up picking out super hero valentines to give to your class.  You had a couple of different princess ones in your hands and then you saw the super heroes and you were thrilled.  So as we plan your little birthday party we've had lot of discussions on what type of party you will have.  You've mentioned princesses (so we have bought Ariel plates, napkins, etc), you also have mentioned  Wonder Woman, and  KU party.  So I guess we better make a decision soon!  I'm in the midst of planning your bday.  I think we'll do a family party and then have a little friend party over spring break during the day.  Maybe a tea party...not sure yet!  I need you to commit so we can really start planning!

Here are some comments you've made lately (these comments make you seem more like a teenager than almost 4):

-One day in the car you said to me, "Why do you dress me in such weird clothes?"  (you did break my heart just a little)
-You also insist that everything is "cool" and "awesome" not "pretty" or "beautiful"  You get pretty ticked off when I say something is pretty or beautiful, so we are working on the idea that people can have different thoughts than you do and that pretty and awesome aren't bad things to say.  Oh Nans, never a dull moment!

We love you so much,
Mommy & Daddy

6 years 4 months

Dear Drew,

Another month of being six here and gone.  Time is flying.  You are more than halfway through kindergarten and I'm trying hard to put the brakes on!  I love taking you to school each day and picking you up.  I also love getting to come up to your school for one thing or another all the time.  You are so comfortable there and you are such a well-liked little boy.  Daddy and I are just so happy to see you doing so well.

You have been busy playing basketball on the weekends and you just love sports and being on a team.  You are still very into football, but since the season is over for now you are interested in watching basketball whenever you can.  Your days include playing football, soccer, and/or basketball in the house since it has been so darn cold these days.  I know you can't wait for spring so you can run around outside and get all that energy out.

You continue to wow us with your amazing math capabilities!  You are also plugging away at your reading, you don't love working on your reading, but you do quite well.  Daddy and I just couldn't be happier with our little man.  You continue to make us so proud!

We love you so much little man!
Love,
Mom & Dad
