100th Day of Kindergarten!

Drew celebrated his 100th day of Kindergarten with all of his buddies at school.  How has it been 100 days already?  My baby boy is getting closer and closer to first grade....slow the clock down...PLEASE!

3 Years 10 Months

Dear Nans,

Oh my what a month.  You are becoming such a busy little girl.  You love dressing up and it is quite entertaining seeing what you pick out.  You also love your princesses and barbies.  You have some great conversations between your toys and daddy and I love eavesdropping!

You go from super heroes to barbies and back all day long.  Some times you can talk Drew into being a super hero with you.  You love fighting the bad guys.

School is going well, you seem to love going and are all smiles when I pick you up.  Gymnastics just started up again and you have moved up into the 4 year old class and seemed to do great.  You have a boy teacher in gymnastics and were a little worried about that to begin with, but by the end of the class you were ok.

You are starting to really have an opinion on your clothes and how I do your hair.  If it I left it up to you, you'd  always have a dress on and your hair would be down (and in your face).  Luckily when I do your hair you don't fight me too much.  I just can't stand hair in your cute little face.

You get really sad if you wake up in the morning and daddy is already gone.  If that is the case, we call daddy and you seemed to settle down after that.  You are a daddy's girl, but you also don't like it when I leave you during the evenings.  It doesn't happen often, but if I leave you, you often cry.  It isn't very often that you and I are apart these days.

You aren't into working with me on academic type stuff very often.  You  know most of your letters and some of the sounds.  You know your numbers too.  You love cutting paper and gluing, you'd rather do that over writing your name or any other academics.  You like to color sometimes and we are still working on coloring in the lines, you'd rather scribble.  You just aren't the sit down and work kind of girl.

2 more months of the 3's!  I can't believe I'll have a 4 year old girl soon!  Daddy and I love you so much and love your little personality!  You are definitely a funny girl!

Love you Nans!

Love,
Mommy & Daddy

6 years 3 months

Happy monthly birthday Drew!  You are 6 and 1/4 now, wow!  You are such a big boy and not a little kid anymore.  I am so proud of the big boy you are.  You are sweet, funny, laid back, dedicated, loyal, and so much more.  You got your 2nd quarter kindergarten grade card  yesterday and you did great!  Academically you are above and beyond where you need to be.  You got mostly 3's on your report card, which is above and beyond.  You got a couple two's, which means you are doing exactly what you should be doing (active listening and self control - you probably enjoy your friends a little too much from time to time in class). Your teacher seems to know you very well!

Here are here comments for the 2nd quarter:
"Drew is a very bright boy who is responsible and hard working.  He is a confident, careful and conscientious student who sets a nice example for his peers.  He is making great progress in all academic areas.  As we've discussed, he is working above grade level in both math and reading.  He is such a delight to have in class and I look forward to challenging and watching him grow even more throughout the remainder of the school year!"

You have no idea how proud daddy and I are of you.  You are such an amazing kid and we feel so blessed to be your parents!

You are continuing to amaze us with your love of football.  You remember just about every score of every game the Chiefs played and now you are remembering the scores of all the teams in the play-offs.  The other night you were wowing Uncle Greg with your wisdom and he was on the internet checking each score you told him.  We aren't sure how this love of football came about, but we do love it!

Some days you are really quiet in the car and when we get to our destination you'll say "I just counted to 300."  You have picked up on the place value through the hundreds all on your own.  You are starting to ask us about the thousands.  I love that you have this amazing understanding of numbers, it will probably take you somewhere great in the future!  You are such a numbers kind of kid!

You are getting really good at putting your lego sets together.  You also love playing board games (especially the football board game Ma gave you).  Some days you and Anna are inseparable and love playing together and other days it seems like you are so much older than her and you want to do big guy kind of stuff.

You are still a bit of a worrier.  A couple times in the last month you've called for daddy and I after you've been in bed for a bit and tell us that your  heart is beating slow.  We explained to you that when you are resting your heart is supposed to slow a bit.  You just need some reassurance sometimes.  You also say somethings about death out of the blue.  You told me the other night as I was putting you to bed, "I really don't want to die some day, but I know I have to."  So we talk about thinking about happy thoughts at bed time.  Oh I just love your sweetness and wish you didn't have worries, but luckily a quick talk with daddy or I and you are good to go!

Basketball is going well, you've had two games.  This past game you scored a basket (too bad daddy and I were at the lake and missed it).  We love you so much little guy!

Love,
Mommy &  Daddy

Happy 34th Birthday Daddy!

Birthdays are sure a lot more fun with kids around.  The kids get very excited whenever we have a birthday in the family.  Mike had to work all day, but the kids and I got a balloon for him and picked up some cupcakes for our celebration.  Drew didn't understand why daddy to had to work on his birthday, it just didn't seem fair! But after a long wait, daddy finally got home and we got to celebrate!  I didn't get any pictures of our celebration (darn it), but it was fun regardless!

Mike had picked out a juicer he wanted for his birthday.  The kids were gracious enough to get daddy 2 - 1 hour massages.  They know that they may cause him a little stress from time to time, so they figured they had better find a way for him to relieve the stress!

Happy Birthday Mikey/Daddy!  We are so lucky that we got to celebrate with you!  We love you so much!!!

Bowling

We enjoyed a fun afternoon at the bowling alley on Drew's last official day of winter break.  Both kids thought it was so much fun, we hadn't been in a while.  Drew was great at throwing the ball down as hard as possible, I was sure the floor was going to crack and Anna loved celebrating every throw.  It didn't matter if she hit all the pins or none!  Such a fun family afternoon!

Happy New Year

We rang in our new year here at the house.  We had a few neighbors over and our brothers.  The kids had fun staying up late and running around with friends.  2013 had it's ups and downs, but I'm really excited for the fresh start of a new year....hoping for good things to come this year!  Yeah for 2014!!!
