What do you think? Do they look alike to you? I see it sometimes, but not always!

New Camera & the Weekend Update

I'm so excited about the new camera I got for my birthday! I got a Nikon D3000 and I'm hoping to start learning a lot about photography! I have a long way to go, but nonetheless I've already figured out how to take pictures and they'll only get better as I learn more!

This past weekend was a busy one! Friday night we celebrated Julie and my birthday at our parents house. We enjoyed some good food! The cousins.

On Saturday Mike & Kyle worked all day long on putting Drew's swing set together, while the kids and I stayed inside and played. Kate, Sarah, Will, Julie, Celia, and Dean all came over to hang out and celebrate my birthday.

On Sunday, Mike continued to work on the swing set and we then left the kids at my mom's so we could go to dinner to celebrate my big birthday. I celebrated my last good birthday, next year I'll be 30! AHHHHHH!!!

Enjoy my pictures taken with my new camera!

Anna is watching Drew in this picture.
Anna just loves looking at her big brother (and he likes her a bit too.)

Out cold!

Looks like an ad for Nikon.
Sleeping beauty...and looking like her brother.

Asleep yet again.

Poor little Drew has had a fever since yesterday, we tried to get out for a few minutes yesterday, but he didn't want to play!

Our Famous Little Anna

Anna had her first TV appearance tonight. She debuted on the Channel 5 6:00 news. My cousin, Amy Anderson (a reporter for Channel 5) was doing a story on Safe Haven (a law that lets parents leave an infant at a hospital or fire station without being prosecuted). Amy needed a sweet baby for some footage to go along with the story (don't worry we won't be leaving our baby anywhere!!!).

Pictures

A happy Anna (nothing like being swaddled with a pacifier and in the swing)!
I finally found a bow that will stay in Anna's hair (she wasn't so sure about it)

Ok it isn't so bad mom!

Drew loving on Anna (nothing new around here he is always all over Anna)!
Mr. Cheesy (when asked to smile this is what we get)
Ok this is better!

Chic Fil A for Preschool time (today's activity was playdoh)

Drew and Lucy in the play area after playing with playdoh

Lake Trip

Drew watching a movie on the way to the lake. The backseat was full! Anna was in the middle and Patton was on the other side of her!

We went to the lake last weekend. It was Anna's first trip to the lake and it was a success! Mike and I went back and forth about going or not going. We weren't sure how Anna would do for the long drive there and back (she's been known to scream in the car) and how she'd do at night. It was a full house and we were hoping not to keep everyone awake at night! Anna did a great job on both drives. She slept for the entire trip home and only cried the last 15 minutes on our way there. She also slept her longest stretches of sleep ever while we were there (of course that hasn't happened again since we've been home).

On Friday night she slept for about 5 hours and 15 minutes before I woke her up to feed her and then on Saturday night she slept about 4.5 hours.

While we were at the lake the guys (and Drew) went to the car show while the ladies (and Anna and Peter) went shopping. We also ate some great food and enjoyed some pretty weather. Not sure when we'll get down again, but I think we won't be so worried about Anna screaming in the car and not sleeping at night!
Anna had enough of the shopping...poor Peter having to sit next to the screamer!

Enjoying the Outdoors

We've been able to get outside quite a bit this week. I love spring and having a baby in the spring is great timing!

Trying to catch bubbles and trimming the bushes (while Anna sleeps) out in our front yard:

We also enjoyed our first trip of the year to Deanna Rose (with Celia, Dean, Robbie, Nadia, and Leah). The kids outnumbered us big time, 3 moms to 7 kids!

Anna is 1 Month Old

1 month picture
Anna compared to her stuffed piggy Drew gave her.
Enjoying the nice weather in her stroller.

Boy have our lives changed this past month. Of course we knew bringing another child in this world would be different, but I don’t think we were really prepared! Anna has fit right into our family and it would be hard to imagine life without her already. It is hard to believe she’s a month already, but it is also hard to believe she’s only been with us a month. The first month has been challenging, mainly because going from one child to two is such a huge change. Our focus has had to expand to two little people instead of just one.

Anna is a typical newborn in the fact that she eats, sleeps, and poops a lot! She eats so much in fact she has gained about 3 lbs since she’s being born and has kept her momma up many hours in the wee hours of the morning. I had forgotten how hard it was to run on such little sleep, luckily my body has gotten used to it and I’m functioning ok, but just wishing for the day I can get three to four hours of consecutive sleep. I know my time is coming!

Anna typically goes to bed around 10:00 and then gets up around 1:00 (lately before 1) and then again in the 3:00 hour, and then again in either the five or six o’clock hour. So by the time she’s fed and rocked back to sleep we are looking at an hour or two of sleep in between feedings. Anna prefers to be put to bed completely asleep so we are wearing out the rocking chair throughout the evening. I love the chair because it is so comfortable, I often find myself dozing off in it.

The difference between our two children is that Drew was a much better sleeper and Anna is definitely a much better eater. Anna was 9 lbs 15 ounces on Friday at her 4 week check-up and Drew didn’t reach that weight until he turned 8 weeks old. I hoped and prayed for a better eater and easier time breastfeeding and it worked (but this time I didn’t get the great sleeper, I guess it all equals itself out). It just amazes Mike and I how different our two children can be. Anna was also 21.75 inches on Friday. Both her height and weight are in the 75th percentiles.

Anna just started smiling this past Wednesday (April 7th). I am the only one who has seen the smile on several different occasions. So hopefully her smiles will come a little more often soon. It is so much fun seeing her interact. She is starting to track different things and notice the world around her. Anna enjoys movement, her favorite being held and bounced. She also loves her swing and her bouncy seat comes in a close second. She is a very tolerant baby when it comes to her older brother. Drew loves to get right in her face to cuddle and so far she hasn’t fought back (although I’m sure those days are coming). She’s one tough little lady.

Anna may be what some people call a colicy baby. She is quite the crier in the evenings. We are hoping as we get to the six week mark that she starts to be a little happier. You would be surprised how loud she can get!
Finally took a bottle the other evening!

Checkout her eyelashes they are looking more and more like her brother's!
