This Week

So I just dowloaded some pictures from my phone and thought I better post them while I was thinking about it.  So these pictures are very recent like the last few days!  Impressive!  I haven't been so great about blogging these days other than my monthly updates.

Sucking his thumb next to dentist daddy...uh oh!
Wyatt had a swinging date with one of his girlfriends, Peyton
Anna doesn't like missing out on a picture so here she is with the little man.
blurry, but do you see that little ham of mine?

I got the walker out last week and boy does Wyatt get around.  He shocked us the other day when we found him in a different room...we had no idea he could move that well in this thing.  So I need a gate at the top of the basement stairs...
 booty up!
Drew lost his 6th tooth!  Daddy pulled this one out for him, seems to be the preferred method these days.
Wyatt's first time in the cart (without his car seat).  He was digging it!

Wy fell asleep during my mom's group...of course it happened right before it was time to leave...he got about 10 minutes of sleep in (story of our lives).
I wasn't going to buy the preschool spring pictures, but I can't pass this up...

And the sickness continued..

So we thought Spring break was bad, but we were glad to have Drew back to normal.  Well Drew went back to school the Monday after spring break and later that afternoon seemed a bit warm.  His temperature was 99, so we decided to not worry too much and sent him to school the next day.  Well Tuesday night his temperature returned and was higher.  So back to the doc we went on Wednesday.  Long story short Drew ended up with bacterial pneumonia.  The poor kiddo had to have blood drawn (not the finger prick this time) and get a chest x-ray.  The poor guy missed Wednesday -Friday of school.

He felt better by the following Monday and was ready to go back to school.  Drew had to take a week off sports and recess, which by far was the hardest thing out of the whole deal for him.  He's such an active boy.  So this past Friday we went for a re-check and Drew still had fluid in his lungs, but the doctor said he could start participating on Monday.  Drew left the doctor's office very sad and had some tears because he had to miss a soccer game he had on Sunday.  But, thankfully it is Tuesday now and he's back to recess and sports.  We do have to go back to the doc in a month to have his lungs checked one more time.  Let's hope this is it for sickness around the Howell household!  I'm hoping these kids don't have anymore sick days this school year!

Wyatt - 7 months

 on the move

Dear Wyatt,

I wish it didn't feel like I was writing these monthly posts every other week.  Your time on earth has flown by and you are changing so much!

This past month you've done pretty well with naps.  Since our schedule isn't the same every day we aren't super consistent.  But you typically get two naps at some point in your bed, some days you may only get one.  You don't fall asleep out and about very easily, but it does happen from time to time.  If I work really hard I can get you to fall asleep in my arms as long as you aren't distracted by everything around you.  You also crash in the car if you've been up for a long time.

Around March 23rd I finally decided I wasn't going to feed you at night.  I prepared for the worst and then was pleasantly surprised when you typically fell back to sleep pretty easily.  If you would wake up, I'd go in and roll you back to your back and give you your pacifier and you'd start to nod off.  Most nights you'd still wake up but usually only once and you'd go back to sleep.  There were even a night or two in there you wouldn't wake up.  During this time I'd still go in and wake you up between 4:45 and 5:15 to feed you before I went to work out.  So you only had to go from 10pm - 4:45 or 5:15.  I wasn't asking too much of you!  So things went well for a couple of weeks and then something changed.  I got sick on Easter (April 5th) and that night you weren't going back to bed for daddy so I told dad to bring you to me and I was just going to feed you so we could all get some sleep.  Since then...I've been feeding you again.  Yes, I'm responsible for this bump in the road, but you get so mad when I go in there and try to give you your pacifier.  One night I was bound and determined that I wasn't going to feed you so I battled you from 2-4 in the morning and at 4 I was so tired I fed you and you passed out and slept past 7:00.  So it is time I cut you off again and just stick it out!  Let's hope next month's update I have some good news!

Eating is going great for you.  You still nurse every 3 hours during the day and typically once at night (hopefully the night time feeding stops soon).  You absolutely LOVE solids.  You will eat anything I give you and you eat it happily.  I don't remember Drew and Anna loving every food.  I can mix food or give it to you unmixed and you eat it.  You love your sippy cup too.  So you aren't great with a bottle, but I think if push came to shove you'd drink your milk in a sippy.  Here are the foods you've had: green beans, peas, sweet potatoes. blueberries, apples, squash, lentils, pumpkin, apples, oatmeal, carrots.  There may be more, but that is all I can remember for now.  I also gave you Puffs for the first time this past month and you like them.  You aren't a huge fan, but you'll usually gum them it a bit and then eat them.  Other times you have spit them out.  You really aren't ready for table foods yet, you just love the baby food texture at this point.  You get excited when I put you in your highchair and if I don't start feeding you right away you start throwing a fit.  You know when you see the bowl and spoon it is time to eat.   This past month you've sat in a high chair at a couple restaurants.

You have really started to get into trouble.  You grab everything you can reach.  It is funny how out of the blue I feel like I really have to watch what is close to you.  EVERYTHING you pick up ends up in your mouth.  You have no signs of teeth yet, but you are chewing on everything and drooling like crazy.

You have been rolling around for months, but I've noticed you rolls back and forth and so much more quickly now.  You also get on your stomach and then extend your arms so you are getting up higher.  You want to move so badly,  so I wouldn't be surprised if you start something soon. You aren't as happy sitting around now, you get bored and often whine and want to either be picked up or moved somewhere new.  You still love your exersacucer but won't hang out there too long.  You are very solid sitter now, but with our wood floors I still feel like I need to sit right by you.  The wood floor isn't very forgiving!

You continue to be such a smiler and a very happy baby. It is fun you often try to get our attention by making a noise and then smiling big.  You see daddy and your face lights up.  You also just love when Drew interacts with you.  You love Anna, but sometimes get a little upset when she gets in your face too much.  You laugh all the time.  You are very ticklish!  You often grab our faces and lean your face in  and often open mouth us (it seems to be your way of hugging and kissing).  You are so sweet!!!  You are extremely distracted when eating. If you hear anything you stop and look around.  If daddy is anywhere near and talking while you eat you stop and it is hard to get you back to eating.

We love you so much Wyatt and can't believe how fast you are growing and changing.  We are loving watching your little personality start to come through.  You are such a precious little gift!

We love you little guy!

Mom and Dad

Anna - 5 years 1 month

Dear Anna,

Happy monthly birthday!  You've been a busy girl.  School has been going well for you.  You still love going each and every day and you often get bummed on the weekend when you can't go to school.  You love writing words and letters.  You also like to add numbers.  You like to randomly tell me the sum of two numbers.  You are just so ready for big kid school and I'm not sure I'm quite as ready!

You had kindergarten round up yesterday.  You were very excited about going and we made an afternoon of it.  We met your buddy, Charlotte and her mom for lunch at Chic Fil A before heading to school for round up.  You were more than willing to walk off with the teachers while the parents sat in a meeting and went on a tour of the school.  I'm so proud of you for being so brave.  This time was so easy you know your teacher and you know about 6 kids that will be in your class.  It helps to have an older brother!!!

You started your spring season of soccer, you've had one game.  You seemed a bit more aggressive than you were last season and you came so close to scoring a goal.  I'm hoping maybe you'll get a goal before the season is up!  Gymnastics is still going well.  You are doing great with your cartwheels and you work on your handstands non-stop.  It doesn't matter what kind of floor you are on, you are always practicing (which makes me nervous).  During your Easter party at school, I happen to look over and there you are doing a handstand in the middle of the classroom.  I don't think you realized what you were doing.  I love seeing you enjoy something so much that you want to practice all the time!

During your free time you are either playing school, barbies, or babies or dressing up.  You run off to your room and just play and play and play.  You do make HUGE messes and then struggle to pick them up.  We are working on that still!  You just get very overwhelmed with the huge messes you make (and so do I).  This past month you and I spent hours on organizing your room.  You kept telling me how much fun you had cleaning with me.  Your room hasn't stayed perfect, but you are doing a little better with lots of reminders.

You continue to love on your baby brother.  You love talking to him and for him (you have a pretty fun little Wyatt voice).  There isn't a day that goes by that you don't want to play with him or hold him.  You and Drew play great some days and other days you two just argue non-stop.  It seems to be pretty typical brother sister fighting.

Looking forward to this next month.  Daddy and I just love watching you grow.  You are such a sweet and funny little girl!

Love you so much!!!
Love,
Mom and Dad

Our big guy is 7.5!!!

Happy half birthday Drew! I'm really not sure how your birthday was 6 months ago!  Hoping this next 6 months goes a little slower.  You've been busy with lots of sickness this past month, so unfortunately you've missed quite a bit of school and some soccer practices and games.  You are being a good sport about sitting out and not running around at recess, but it is so hard for you!  You have broken down in tears a few times out of frustration.  Let's hope this next week you are ready to get back to your normal recess and sports schedule!
sick boy
This past month you really got into March Madness.  In fact it kept you very busy when you were sick.  You got to fill out bracket and daddy entered it into one of the pools he was doing.  You kept a close eye on your bracket, dad's and mine throughout the whole tournament.  You watched so many games and loved every second of it.  You also took it a step further and made up your own tournaments and drew out your own brackets.  You must of written out 20 or more brackets.  So fun seeing you so interested in March Madness!
here is a sampling of some of your brackets

School is going well, you are reading up a storm.  This past month you've taken quite a liking to Magic Tree House books.  I'd say you've read about 7 or so.  You typically read them in about 2 nights.  You still love reading before falling asleep.  I love seeing how excited you are about these books.  I have a ton of these books from my classroom and you've also gotten some at the school library.  You got your 3rd quarter report card this past month and you are continuing to do awesome in school. You are such a smart little guy and school is such a breeze for you.  I'm so thankful for that!

You love hanging out with your buddies.  You have had a couple play dates lately and absolutely love your friend time.  You've got such a nice group of boys in your class and in the first grade.  You hang out with the same crowd, but you talk to everyone and are so very comfortable at school with your friends.  It is amazing how far you have come socially.  Going back about 4 years...I would have thought you'd be such a shy little boy...nope you are outgoing and so comfortable in your skin!

You continue to be a great big brother.  You and Anna have a lot of fun together, but you also continue to push each other's buttons too.  You absolutely love your time with Wyatt and Wyatt lights up when he sees you.  You can get the best giggles out of him!

We continue to be so proud of you buddy!  We love you our 7.5 year old!!!

Love,
Mom & Dad

Easter

We had a great Easter this year.  It was fun-filled and busy day!  Leading up to Easter the kids and I did a lot of talking about what the real meaning of Easter is.  They can easily get caught up in all the fun with the Easter Bunny and eggs.  This year I read about a great book and used a set of Resurrection Eggs to tell the real story of Easter.  I love the questions they had and how they really got into and wanted to know more and why.  Some questions were a little harder to answer than others.

On the Saturday before Easter we celebrated with Ma, Pa, the Taylors, and the Wos'.  We started the celebration with a big family picture at a park and then headed to the Wos' for dinner and an egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny even visited everyone!

On Easter morning we got up early and checked what the Easter Bunny left the kids.  The kids also found the eggs the bunny left.  We then headed to Church at 9.

After church we headed to the Carriage Club for brunch with the Howell clan.  The kids got to do another hunt there before heading back to Greg and Kelley's for another hunt.

Ben was not excited about the picture...
Next we headed to my Aunt Eileens' house.  Wyatt got to take some pictures with his cousins.
