Wyatt 3 years 11 months

Dear Wy Wy,

How is it that we only have one more month in the 2's?  I can't believe it!  You are really growing lately.  You look a lot taller lately and you are acting so much like a little boy, not a baby.  You are talking non-stop!  We aren't always sure what you are saying, but you are putting several sentences together.  Your language has come so far, we still need some work on the speech part (so hard to understand what you are saying, your sounds are all sound so similar).

You have become quite a swimmer this summer.  You have gone from scared of the pool and only playing on the step to now wanting me to take your floaty off so you can "swim" and go under all by yourself.  You definitely can't swim on your own, but you are so very brave.  I only let you go small stints without your floaty because you make me nervous on how fearless you are.  I can't take my eye off you at all!  I just signed you up for swimming lessons that will start in October, pretty sure you'll love them!

You've been such a trooper this summer with being dragged to all of Drew and Anna's events.  You enjoy going to their games and running around and playing with the other kids.  It can be hard sometimes because you think you are a big kid and want to just run off and do what all the kids are doing.  I don't get to sit at baseball games since you like to play back behind the bleachers. I also miss most of the games because I'm always looking for you and making sure you aren't too far.

You continue to love trucks, tractors, your duplo legos, and you've really gotten into super heroes and dressing up since we've been home from Colorado.  You don't really know much about the super heroes other than you love masks and capes and pretending to fight everyone.  You love Hulk and Spiderman the most I'd say.

Next update for you will be your 3rd birthday!

Love you sweet baby boy!

Anna - 7 years 5 months

Dear Anna,

We've had a great month.  The first part of this last month we were in Colorado for a week.  You loved going to Estes Park with the Dawsons.  You had a great time playing with Avery and Brooke.  You got to experience your first real horse back ride and you loved it.  I'm so impressed with how brave you are!

You did a soccer camp the week after Colorado and you really enjoyed it.  Sometimes it is like pulling teeth getting you out the door for your activities and other times you love every second of it. I'm glad you are excited about soccer.   Your twice a week soccer practices have also started.  We are carpooling with Elyse, Olivia, and Leah and you are pretty excited about that.  You love to socialize with your friends.

Last weekend you had your first competitive league soccer game and you did well.  You weren't super aggressive and your whole team was a bit confused, since the field was so much bigger and you were playing positions for the first time.  I'm guessing with time your team is going to do great.  This weekend you in your first soccer tournament ever!  You had a game last night and one today and you already looked so much better and so did your team.  It is really fun watching you!  One funny comment you made was that your team's uniform looked way more competitive than the other team's uniform.  Such a girly comment!

Gymnastics is going well, you are working hard in your Opal class.  You are getting very strong.  I love watching you practice your skills at home.  One thing for sure if you are not a kid who sits still, you are always on the move.  Not sure how you hold it together at school!

School is about to start and you are going to be a big 2nd grader.  You aren't super excited for school, but are looking forward to seeing who your teacher is and who is in your class.  You are hoping for Taylor and Elyse to be in your class.  I'm hoping you get at least one of them!

Daddy and I are looking forward to this next month and seeing how you are handling second grade, soccer and gymnastics.

We love you sweet girl!

Drew 9 years 10 months

Dear Drew,

Happy monthly birthday!  Only 2 months until double digits!  Time is flying!  You are just 5 days out from starting 4th grade!  This past month you spent almost two weeks of it in Colorado.  The last part of your trip you and dad went off roading for many many miles across Colorado.  You had a great time and even got to camp for the first time ever.

You really enjoyed your time with dad on the Jeep trip.  I think you like being the big boy of the family and getting to be dad's right hand man.  When you came back in town you got to spend a couple days with your buddy, Max before he moved to Chicago.  You were very bummed to see him go, but the two of you have face-timed several times and you even got the tour of his new house through face time.  We love technology!

We've been doing lots of hanging out at home since you've gotten home from Colorado.  I'm trying to let you kids be lazy when ever possible, because life is about to pick up again when school starts.

Soccer practice also got started this past month.  You are practicing twice a week and we are carpooling with your buddies, Colin, Oliver, and Hudson.  You had your first game last week and you guys won.  It is fun seeing how the new team meshed and you guys looked good.  Tomorrow your team is in a tournament.  You will have 3 games with the possibility of 4 if you win.

You have also decided to play fall ball again this fall with your baseball team, the Blue Dragons.  So practice started yesterday.  Your Thursdays are going to be busy, you have soccer from 5:30-6:30 and baseball from 6:30-8.   You were also just asked to join a more competitive baseball team.  This fall the team is just practice a few times and plan to do a tournament or two to see how the team meshes.  You are pretty excited!

You are really into car racing lately and made yourself a race track out of cardboard boxes.  You take your cars and race them around the track and keep track of the stats on a piece of paper.  You and I battle on where to keep your cars.  You like to be right in the middle of the house where everyone is and you don't like me getting after you about cleaning up your cars.  If it was up to you, you'd leave your cars on the island in the kitchen ad never pick them up.  You and Wyatt have struggled quite a bit lately.  He's in your space and wants to do everything you do.  Some days you have patiences and other days you are done with him.  School might just be what you need, a little space from him.
You say you aren't really for school to start, but you are very excited to see who your teacher is this year and what friends are in your class.

We are going to live up the last few days of the summer with swimming, playing at the park, and going to a movie!  We look forward to watching you head to 4th grade this next month.

We love you buddy!

Love,
Mom and Dad
