Dear Drew,
Happy monthly birthday! Only 2 months until double digits! Time is flying! You are just 5 days out from starting 4th grade! This past month you spent almost two weeks of it in Colorado. The last part of your trip you and dad went off roading for many many miles across Colorado. You had a great time and even got to camp for the first time ever.
You really enjoyed your time with dad on the Jeep trip. I think you like being the big boy of the family and getting to be dad's right hand man. When you came back in town you got to spend a couple days with your buddy, Max before he moved to Chicago. You were very bummed to see him go, but the two of you have face-timed several times and you even got the tour of his new house through face time. We love technology!
We've been doing lots of hanging out at home since you've gotten home from Colorado. I'm trying to let you kids be lazy when ever possible, because life is about to pick up again when school starts.
Soccer practice also got started this past month. You are practicing twice a week and we are carpooling with your buddies, Colin, Oliver, and Hudson. You had your first game last week and you guys won. It is fun seeing how the new team meshed and you guys looked good. Tomorrow your team is in a tournament. You will have 3 games with the possibility of 4 if you win.
You have also decided to play fall ball again this fall with your baseball team, the Blue Dragons. So practice started yesterday. Your Thursdays are going to be busy, you have soccer from 5:30-6:30 and baseball from 6:30-8. You were also just asked to join a more competitive baseball team. This fall the team is just practice a few times and plan to do a tournament or two to see how the team meshes. You are pretty excited!
You are really into car racing lately and made yourself a race track out of cardboard boxes. You take your cars and race them around the track and keep track of the stats on a piece of paper. You and I battle on where to keep your cars. You like to be right in the middle of the house where everyone is and you don't like me getting after you about cleaning up your cars. If it was up to you, you'd leave your cars on the island in the kitchen ad never pick them up. You and Wyatt have struggled quite a bit lately. He's in your space and wants to do everything you do. Some days you have patiences and other days you are done with him. School might just be what you need, a little space from him.
You say you aren't really for school to start, but you are very excited to see who your teacher is this year and what friends are in your class.
We are going to live up the last few days of the summer with swimming, playing at the park, and going to a movie! We look forward to watching you head to 4th grade this next month.
We love you buddy!
Love,
Mom and Dad
